Goth DJs: The Music Panel

Convergence 27

August 8 – 11, 2025

Room B (Silverplume) | Saturday | 1:45 pm – 2:45 pm

DJing in the goth and industrial scene isn’t just about playing tracks—it’s about shaping a community. How do DJs curate soundscapes that evoke alienation, desire, rage, or transcendence? What goes into balancing personal taste with crowd expectation, or introducing new sounds without losing the floor? This panel explores the ethics of gatekeeping vs. experimentation, the role of nostalgia in dark music culture, and how DJs adapt to changing technologies and tastes while staying true to the scene’s subversive spirit.
